Quilting

I got an embroidery machine a couple of weeks ago! I have played around with the software that I bought with it too. I spent 10 hours embroidering the Mt. Timpanogos LDS Temple on 20 blocks that I then put into a quilt top. Just finished the top today. I posted it on my other blog. Tomorrow I go with a friend to shop for fabric for her daughters quilt top. She is getting married on my birthday.

Last night I went to my third "R.E.A.L. Republican Women" meeting. It is my way of trying to gain some none LDS friends and get more involved politically. I feel so ignorant at these meetings, but the only way to fix that is to keep going. When my kids are more grown up, I'll become more active and a better informed person. The book we will read for our next meeting is "Founding Mother's" by Cokie Roberts. I've been wanting to read this for some time. The book part is only a small portion of the meeting. We spent a good deal of time last night on WA state politics. Ask me if you want to know more.

I am going to stay in my pj's and go read "Displaced Persons" by Joseph Berger. After I embroider a little that is.

Jury Duty

I was summonsed again for the fourth time to jury duty. This time for the City of Kent.

In the past I could not serve because I am to biased and think they are all guilty. I have been the victim of to many crimes; armed robbery, theft (I was a suspect until I took the polygraph and was told I am easy to read, I can not lie with out laughing), assault, stalking, hit and run and that's all I can think of.

Enough time has passed I told Dale, "I think I can be impartial now." I don't think he is convinced though.

I checked in on Monday and they didn't need me. I checked in again today and went through the selection process and was not rejected/dismissed but also was not picked. In this small jurisdiction they only need 6 jurors.

I am grateful for the American process and that I could be a small part of it. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

It's all about ME!

Some of my family reads this blog (never comment, but they tell me). So this is an update of what I'm going through.

  1. Mid life boredom?
  2. I've read 3 books since Jan (a record you know) and have 2 more in my hand and actually want to go back to the library for myself.
  3. I thought I would go back to school and finish an online B.S. in Secondary Ed, Social Studies. But yesterdays fasting and prayer told me no. (there is more story here)
  4. I am in contact with a daughter of the missionary that baptized my extended family. I am asking her for her Mormon pioneer stories. (my grandparents are converts, my mom is a convert and my husband is a convert) I have plenty of my Mormon pioneer stories and I LOVE them all!
  5. I am not quilting, my sewing room is to small, yes I'm pouting, mid life thing again.
  6. I have discovered that getting a manicure is only $12 and very worth it. Rachel wants to go with me. Trying to deal with the midlife thing again
  7. I am dying for some boots! I love Jamie's and how cute she is in them.
  8. I wish my calling was going better. It is fine but not "gellin" like it used to.
  9. Watched the Super Bowl yesterday and had fun with the family during it. When an inappropriate commercial came on Glenn covered the screen with this blanket and we all started singing "lalalala" it was amusing and very funny for us. Dale pointed out that I have not weakened and watched the unSabbath Super Bowl for a few years.
  10. I am assigned to jury duty this Friday and next week. I can not be impartial, they are all guilty. I know how hard it is to get to the trial. I've been summoned 3 times since we have lived here (never serve because I admit I can't be impartial) and Dale has never been summoned. He is the one that could actually be impartial and fair.

Now What?

sing to "What do you do in the summer time"
Oh, what do you do in the winter time when all the sky is grey (or gray)?
You stay in your bed and cover your head
Is that what you do, so do I.

I've read my scriptures, checked my email, then off to play Zumba Wii (spell check doesn't like Zumba Wii), then a shower.
Rachel wants me to sew up 2 skirts for her.
Than what?

Files

WOW or wow? depends.

I am cleaning out old files. I have a file for each church organization I've been called to work in (except Activities Committee chair, where'd that one go?).

  • RS brought me smiles of how many lessons I prepared. I wrote 2 plays for that one too.
  • SS didn't have much in it. I only taught the 14 year old's in AZ before I got married.
  • YW brought me tears. Those years are so emotionally invested. I have a letter from the stake presidency thanking me for my service the "horrible" year at camp. I wish I had a copy of the "Golden Hour" (daily firesides) talk I gave 3-4 times at PA camp where I was told that it changed a YW relationship with her dad. etc etc etc.
  • Primary is just a bunch of visuals I have created over the many years
  • General Church has a bunch of hand out etc.
My Resume file is fairly empty and needs to be updated. I never finished a Bachelors Degree only an AA. There are times when I get down on myself feeling like I have not done much other than raise 4 fabulous kids. If I tried to get a job I wouldn't be worth much. Than I look through these files and realized that my payment is of a different kind.

I am a list person

My house will never be clean enough.
I will always have things to file.
I love that I get on the floor with my primary kids.
I may never start my own business, I am still a success.
I will try not beat myself up in the head for the r e s t o f m y l i f e.
I love that reading the Book of Mormon every day is a habit now.
I love that I don't beat myself up if I don't read the Book of Mormon on a day.
I will never get my bachelors degree.
I love that after all these years of marriage, we are getting some things right.
I am glad that the teen age years don't last.
I worry and hope that my children will gain their own testimony.
I am happy that 6 friends agreed to read about Grandma Mason.
I wish I was a reader, but alas, I am a movie watcher instead.
I wish I felt I was "good enough".
I'm glad that this Internet Explorer is finally letting me post again.

2011

The only goal I have for the New Year is to join the gym again and go.
We spent New Year's Eve watching Serenity movie and then I went to bed. I woke up with all the noise outside and went down stairs to kiss my hubby and wish Rachel a happy new year. Then went back to sleep. Whopedy do?
Spend a few hours new year's day playing games with the whole family, that was fun!
Not very hopeful for the new year.
I am not ready for Primary today or for the Ward Activity we are in charge of this Friday. Yikes! I hope to sew a new pajama top for it. It will be fun to see the ward in their pj's.

Maybe this is a middle age phase?
