Thanksgiving
Only 1 and then 2 of my dad's sibling had moved away from home including my dad. My family went every year for Thanksgiving though, no matter where the United States Air Force had moved us to. My brothers had a couple cousins around their age and my sisters had 3 girl cousins their age. We went and loved going even though there were few kids our age and we were frequently bored. I loved Grandma. She was the most perfect person I have ever known. My Grandpa had died before my parents married so we never knew him. I loved seeing my Aunts, even with their beehive type blue hair. It took years for me to figure out who was who, they looked a like back then.
When I was 16 my parents decide not to go. They let me drive my sisters the 12 hours by myself so could go. WOW that was a lot of trust they put in a young kid. I had only had my license 5 months.
Grandma died a year before I married. I stopped going. It was and is a long trip we didn't feel we could afford.
Every year I still get an invitation in the mail. Every year I read every word on the invitation even though it is the same. Every year I shed a few tears that I won't be there. I hold on to the invitation until after the holidays and I throw it out with the Christmas cards. Evey year I say with tears what a Jewish mother would say, "Next year the promised land!"
It is not my home, I never lived there. It was, and is now again, my parents home. It is not the promised land. But I want to go. I am confident there would be some boredom for my kids like there was for me. When my hubby and I talk about moving back "home" Thanksgiving is one reason why.
I want to go home.

Absent
When I joined Face book my Jamie "let out an audible groan". I realized I spend way to much time on the computer. I'm trying to figure out how much time is acceptable on needed programs and how much time is acceptable on fluff, like blogging that few people read or Face book which has a learning curve I'm just not that into.
Hubby took the week off of work to "putter around the house. Today we are rearranging our TV room, second coat of mud on the bathroom ceiling and going to the temple tonight.
Yesterday I went to the Quilt Show in Puyallup again (w/Terri again), I bought one tool for figuring out scallop edges. I LOVE scallops! I went to one class (w/Terri) where we learned the possibilities with the "square in a square" tool. They were completely sold out an hour later. There is some scrap booking software I really want to buy. More time on the computer!
I'm trying an "experiment" to have more energy to do the things I really want to do. I love doing these projects but find that I frequently turn on the on the stupid TV instead, I'm tired. I'll post later in a month or so if it continues to work.

Random Nothing and Everything
I am confident that no one is simple. Everyone has many parts to them. I am confused at how to merge my multiple aspects.
- Sad John McCain is not our new prez. I allowed myself one day of morning, maybe I need 2. Michelle Obama's red and black dress was different. I loved the phrase, "Mom in chief". Was grateful to see Jessie Jackson (who walked with King) with tears in his eyes at the profound moment we were witnessing, yet I know that I know nothing of how he feels.
- Joined Face book. Unsure about it being a good thing though.
- Laundry is drying out my hands today.
- Listening to "The Cure" Kiss me Kiss me Kiss me"
- I'm having a surreal phase. Maybe I'll tell you why later, but probably not.
- My pondering's of late are finally turning into some positive action. We'll see how long that last?
- Going to grocery store soon. Take a kid to doc later.

Resume
I hate figuring out what I'm good at. I spent several hours writing down everything I've ever done (I think) paid and volunteer work. Now I have to scale down and bring out specifics for the kind of position I want. I'm a "Jane of all trades, master of none".
Looking at my old resume from 2002, I think it is out dated in its format and content.
I need a job. My hubby's job is fairly secure but we're not getting the raise in January we had hopped for. One kid needs braces and we are supposed to have a huge family reunion next year in the mid-west. I need a job to pay for such frivolous things.
