G&G

G&G stands for a new diet I invented today. The "Gas & Gut diet". The price of gas hurts. So I bike to where ever I can locally and maybe shrink my gut. I am hurting a little from the seat though ;).

This is inspired by a few things going on in my life right now. One is that I have 2 friends (almost half my age) that ran a 12k. I am so impressed! I am inspired!

Maybe I'll blog and keep you posted on my G&G.

Nothing To Do

I spent the whole day today in my PJ's working on putting my Fun Summer List on the web. I didn't know how to get a free web site and didn't want to spend more time trying to figure it out so I just posted it as a blog.

I hope the title is catchy enough, let me know if you got it without this explanation. "MOM! There is Nothing To Do!" So here is a list of thing To Do that cost Nothing.

If you live by me then great, check it out. If not, than I can give you suggestions on how to put one together for your area.

I still don't have the free movie schedule for this year yet. Ironic, it was the free movies in PA that got me started on this whole list thingy.

Here is the link.

this week

Last night at the school concert, my son had a solo during the Star Wars medley. When they announced he would be doing it my hubby and I thought we heard a lot of (female) congratulating shouting. hmmm. He did a great job.

Am I ever going to finish any sewing project?

I can finally post comments again on other blogs! -thanks Jazzy

My Jamie comes home next week! She wants her own room. (oh, boy)

I'm giving up on this yard sale idea. A friend said it isn't worth the work, I totally agree. My hubby and kids love going to them, but for some reason are not doing anything to get ready for one.

My house will only get clean if I invite people over to eat. So I did. Now I have a deadline.

Have a good day to all the non-normal families!

It is finished

Primary Quarterly activity "Temple Trip & Pizza Picnic" went near perfect. I am so glad to work with such great woman! I was so burned out, bummed out and upset over last Sunday that when it came to doing anything for the activity I just let everyone else take over and do it. -Thanks!
When I asked my kids what they thought of it, I was told "Best one ever." When I asked "Why?", he said, "Because it was so short." When I asked them "What did you think about what mom said?" They both in unison asked, "Did you talk?" LOL They were both going for the comedic response.

Took a nap. Had to go and get new shoes for my youngest and some for me. I need shoes with removable insoles to take to my pod???? foot doctor this week. I hunted everywhere. No luck and I'm pooped.

I wonder what the tide will bring in tomorrow?

3 Movies in 5 Days

first off- all the kids are at school today!

Movie 1 Saturday Night
"Hoosiers"

My younger kids didn't understand why I was so "obsessed" (their word) over it. They are not aloud to make fun of it, at all! I was very distressed when NONE of them remembered ever watching it.

So, here is why I am "obsessed". My parents are both from Indiana. My grandparents, great-grandparents, great-great-great-great and so on are from Indiana. My maternal grandma played basketball in high-school. This would be way before "Title X" (my mom lettered in a high school sport, also before "Title X").Grandma played basketball with 6 members on a team playing on a half court. Grandpa also played high school basketball. My grandparents went to all the games for years! This means lots of yelling, cheering and spirit.

Now, imagine seeing "the movie" opening week-end in Indiana with grandma! Indiana IS basketball - this is basketball in Indiana. The whole movie theater was just like at a game- yelling, cheering, lots of clapping and spirit! It was GREAT! A cherished memory.

PS my dad attended the school that is portrayed in the final game they play against, that year, and only that year. (Daddy didn't play basketball for the school, he was football and wrestling) Lettering in high school sports is the start of my parents love story.
PSS Daddy make anyone who wants to marry into our family watch this movie. My obsession is a learned behavior.

Movie 2 Sunday Night
"Indiana Jones and the Lost Ark"

Kids wanted to see it. What's all the fuss over this new PG-13 movie they are not going to go see? So I ask my usual question; "Is it Sabbath appropriate?" "NO" very disappointed. So I justify watching it by saying we can watch it if we study about the "Ark of the Covenant" in the bible dictionary first.

We had fun. No one had dreams of snake, spiders or skeletons.

Movie 3 Wednesday Morning 2:30 AM

"The Kite Runner"
WOW! This was profound. I had to watch it again because I could not place a correct description on it. It is PG-13 and I watched it the second time on "Clear-Play". Much better, but a different movie. It was horrific in one scene.

How could I identify so much with it? I cried and cried. This goes up there with "Hotel Rwanda". Not something I recommend for entertainment but to learn.

I'm trying to think back about how I felt when the Russians invaded Afghanistan and I do remember thinking, as a teen-ager, "Why aren't we going to go stop them?" Where would we be now, if we had? Where would the world be now if we, the USA, or even the UN had gone in then instead of after 9-11?

I could relate to all the characters except one. I have nothing in common and yet identified with something about them. This is a well portrayed movie of some disturbing human choices.

Positive Post

My brother just became a "Grandpa" yesterday! Healthy baby boy! (his wife has grand kids so actually he has been for some time)
Washing machine still works today.
I'm going to the mall today with my kids for some fun stuff in between some doc appointments.
My fun summer "what to do" list is almost done. Just need the AMC movie list.
My chiro appointment today was good. I have more motion in my neck today than ever before.
I'm spring cleaning a kids bedroom today, and we both have good attitudes about it, at the moment.
I'm done with all my doc follow ups except 1 foot doctor and regular chiro. I LOVE getting my back cracked every other day. I don't love getting my neck cracked, but it's great afterwards.
My hubby is not feeling well, worried about his heart, among other things. He has been very supportive of me and my ...grumpy... attitude lately. (Especially yesterday after church.) He has always been a good listener. He wrote a note on the bathroom mirror yesterday morning. He loves me!

Puke Post

I'll finally admit washing machine is dieing. 2 weeks of sick people around here. Youngest is home again today. Poor communication with people sucks. I'll never be ready for the yard sale.
Looks like only a few people will be going to the RS Enrichment meeting on Testimony's. All this effort and few people will benefit. I'm tired of thinking about my talk for it. My sewing does not suck, but, it's not like Mother.
